Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police mentioned they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
